General Objective:

ND Marketing is programme designed to prepare students for careers in both private and public (government) sectors. It is designed to produce graduates who have acquired technical skills in profit planning, purchasing sales profit maximization, operational supervision, resource optimization and management, as well as research. At the supervisory cadre, ND Marketing holders will operate as first line managerial personnel since they would have been thorough exposed to general business subjects like accounting statistics, psychology, data processing and principles of management.

Specific Objective:

  1. On completion of the ND Marketing programme the diplomat should be able to assist management in the area of planning, organizing and controlling, product, price, distribution and promotion.
  2. Assist management in executing plans, especially in supervising workers.
3. Identify, understand and interpret organizational goals as they concern profit planning and survival of the organization.
4. Aspire to grow on the job and rise to higher position in a particular trade of elsewhere.
5. Continue studies at higher levels in Marketing Finance, as well as Public Administration towards the attainment of Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).

Entry Requirements:
The general entry requirements for the National Diploma programme in Marketing is West African School Certificate (WASCE), General Certificate of Education (GCE O Level), Second Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), NECO, National Board of Technical Education Certificate (NABTEC) or their equivalents with FIVE Credits AT SITTING including English Language and Mathematics, Literature in English and Oral English are not accepted in place of English Language. These must be added to two other subjects from Economics, Principles of Accounts, Statistics, Government/History, Geography, Biology, Marketing etc. In addition, those applying for regular programme must have passed examination conducted the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) satisfactorily. A candidate may not be allowed to combine TWO ordinary level results. Such a candidate MUST therefore have four credits without repeated count of a subject passes. Candidates with a higher grade of pass in the subjects credited normally have an edge over others.

Duration
The ND Marketing programme is structured to run for a period of two academic sections i.e. fours semester (two semesters in session).
