Professor Abiodun Falodun address the Occasion
It is my singular honour and privilege to welcome you all to the inauguration of the Centre for Gender Studies and Women Development, Edo State Polytechnic, Usen. The Centre is aimed at educating both the male and female youths on the need to develop themselves, add value to their lives, families and the nation at large for a sustainable national development. Gender implies both male and female, most times the emphasis is on the female folks because they are more vulnerable and highly discriminated against in our society. Hence the call for gender equality and equity; gender equality means the equal treatment of women and men in laws and policies, and equal access to resources and services within families, communities and society at large while gender equity is fairness and justice in the distribution of benefits and responsibilities between women and men.
